I have owned tado for 2 years now and during that time the units have slowly deteriorated one by one. Things that will happen : Units will start to 1. Degrade needing more batteries at the end of 2 years my units were using batteries a set a month. 2. The build quality is poor and the units would randomly pop off the radiator causing two to break. Making it difficult to see on screen display: 3. The app is not accurate on calculating savings. The info in the app never matches the bill even when I entered all the info. 4. Home and away is dodgy sometimes thinking I’m home when I’m away and the radiators burning full power this error can cost you your full years saving using it in a day. 5. After the warranty ran out after 2 years my devices have started breaking and deteriorating. Tado offered 30% discount on replacing the 4 failed units…..as I have 6 units i think its better to try a different brand hopefully will last longer than 2 years and the life of the heating system. I mean its expensive enough to only last 2 years it’s should last the life of your cv system. In conclusion nice system at first but actually quite cheap and simply made. Battery life, build quality are poor and deteriorate with time. I’m not renewing the devices but trying another option instead of tado that will hopefully be more reliable. You will be lucky if the units last longer than 2 years and for the price not worth it. When tado makes a mistake your heating burns on full and at current gas prices this can cost you over 200 euros a day for the error until you realise. Example I was away for 8 hours during this time something failed on the systems meaning my radiators were at full for the full time I was away meaning any savings through the year were taken back in those errors because the units failed. And the longer you have them the more often this happens.
