The Libri GmbH The Blind Pilot Paperback

David White's The Blind Pilot is not a book you read so much as a book you fall into. Across hundreds of short, densely imagistic pieces, the collection careens through carnival midways, burnt-out shacks, crashed planes, ice cliffs, and half-remembered towns - a landscape assembled from dream logic, dark humor, and unfiltered association. There is no single plot to follow and no character to root for in the traditional sense. Instead, White offers a voice - by turns comic, grotesque, tender, and unsettling - that moves the way memory and dreams move: sideways, backward, and through walls. Echoes of Rimbaud's drunken boat, the cut-up techniques of Burroughs, and the free-associative energy of the Beat poets run throughout, but the voice here is entirely its own. This is a book for readers who love language that surprises them line by line - who want poetry that doesn't resolve neatly, fiction that refuses the rules of fiction, and images that stay lodged in the mind long after the page is turned. Open anywhere. Read straight through or dip in at random. Either way, The Blind Pilot rewards attention with something rare: writing that feels genuinely, dangerously alive.
