Rapid urbanization and population growth in Ilorin, Nigeria, have intensified municipal solid waste generation and the widespread use of uncontrolled dumpsites. This study presents a comprehensive assessment of leachate pollution and its impact on soil, surface water, and groundwater systems. Using advanced analytical techniques, including Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, ICP-MS, and GC-MS, the research evaluates heavy metals, persistent organic pollutants, and key physicochemical parameters. The findings reveal significant contamination arising from leachate migration, with implications for environmental sustainability and public health. By integrating hydrogeochemical characterization with risk assessment frameworks, this work provides critical insights into the pathways, extent, and consequences of pollution in developing urban environments. It further highlights the urgent need for improved waste management strategies, policy interventions, and environmental monitoring systems to safeguard water resources and human health.
