Dead Heartstrings and Homicides: Dead On Arrival

Macie Fisher-Thompson came home to Clover Creek, Kentucky to lick her wounds, modernize her grandmother's dusty matchmaking business, and maybe - maybe - stop being so careful with her own heart. A fresh start. A quiet life. A spreadsheet or two. What she did not sign up for was a dead client on the books before her first week was out. When charming widower Buddy Puckett turns up dead and the coroner waves it off as a bad ticker, Macie knows better. Buddy had just told her he was done being careful, and people who finally decide to live don't usually drop dead the next morning. With Mamaw June stirring the pot from behind the front desk, the Rotary Club gossiping over biscuits at Patsy's diner, and half the town nursing a grudge against the deceased, Macie starts asking the kind of questions that make small towns very, very nervous.Sheriff Holt Briggs would prefer she didn't. Tall, steady, infuriatingly by-the-book Holt, who keeps showing up on her porch with a frown and a thermos of coffee and absolutely no intention of admitting he likes having her around. But somebody in Clover Creek poisoned a good man over an old secret. And if Macie doesn't untangle the lies about embezzlement, about lost love, about the lengths people go to bury their pasts, the next name in her client file might be her own.Perfect for fans of small-town cozy mysteries, slow-burn romance, sassy grandmothers, and amateur sleuths who can't leave well enough alone.First in a brand-new series - Southern charm - Swoony small-town sheriff - No cliffhangers, no gore, just murder with a side of pie
